Insurance Innovation Reporter is partnering with Celent to recognize outstanding insurance IT leadership in Latin America through the Five Stars Awards 2022. The Awards correspond to five subregions: Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, the Andes, Brazil and the Southern Cone of South America. The winners of each region will be announced during at the Latin American Insurance IT Executive Summit 2022, on June 6 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Below, we present the nominees for Brazil.
Adilson Lavrador, Executive Director of Operations, Claims and IT, Tokio Marine Seguradora
In his role as Executive Director of Operations, Claims and IT, at Tokio Marine Seguradora (Sao Paolo), Adilson Lavrador has brought a visionary approach to driving innovation in products and services with a focus on excellence and operational efficiency. He has driven effective control of administrative expenses, helping to improve the company’s revenues and combined ratio. When it comes to technology advancement, Lavrador maintained strict control of IT costs without sacrificing speedy progress in digital transformation, innovation, and technology evolution in general. He has worked effectively with the business to develop a range of digital insurance products, as well as providing automated tools for brokers and advisors, and an app for policyholders, brokers and employees. Lavrador also implemented robotic process automation in various operational areas, introduced AI capabilities for claims operations and fraud detection, and developed a system for 24-hour service assistance for policyholders.
Ana Lucía D’Amaral , CIO, Liberty Seguros Brasil
A 30-year technology veteran, Ana Lucía D’Amaral has brought her results-focused leadership and passion for transformation to several of Brazil’s major financial service institutions, including Unibanco AIG Seguros, Unibanco Previdência and Banco Safra. During her 18 years at Liberty Seguros (Sao Paolo), she has contributed to the company’s growth through initiatives such as the replacement of legacy quoting systems, as well as client and broker portals. She has overseen migration of the company’s data center to the cloud, implemented new service channels, and introduced AI into insurance processes. As part of her digital transformation program, Amaral drove the digitization of communication, facilitating a nearly 100 percent online experience for clients. The initiative also saved more than 22 million sheets of paper, which translates into 1,020 trees—and a 90 percent reduction in printing and postage costs while increasing brokers’ NPS.
Cibele Cardin, CIO, Care Plus
As CIO of Care Plus, Cibele Cardin is dedicated to elevating the customer experience through digital services. She works closely with the business to support its needs through innovative technology solutions delivered efficiently through agile methodology. Under her leadership, Care Plus has become the first Brazlian healthcare company to offer telemedicine services within a 100 percent digital journey, from scheduling to completion of service. Care Plus is also the first company to offer Tyto Care, which makes it possible to perform examinations remotely, safely and accurately. Cardin has driven greater interoperability and security of systems, and the development of tools that provide a broad view of the beneficiary, integrating medical, dental and occupational health protection business lines. Cardin makes Care Plus’ IT team an effective partner to the business through close partnership with business colleagues, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the cultivation of talent to create a more effective team with greater retention.
Marco Antunes da Silva, VP, Operations, Sul América Seguro Saúde
As Vice President of Operations at Sul América Seguro Saúde, Marco Antunes da Silva drives the development and implementation of innovative initiatives to create superior customer protection solutions including digital products, tools and other services. Antunes brings vast operational experience and a philosophy of ethical business and technological and human strength to add value to the journeys of customers, employees, brokers, partners and investors. Among the solutions he has driven are facial biometrics, telemedicine, digital prescription, a cognitive chatbot, digital medical screening and remote medicine. Antunes has held the VP of operations position since 2013 and is a member of Sul América Seguro Saúde’s Sustainability Committee. He is also Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Supplementary Health Studies (IESS).
